PlayStation Now

If you own a Samsung Smart TV that was released in 2015 and live in the US, you may be able to access Sony’s PlayStation Now streaming game service. The company has updated its support page to show that a select number of 2015 Samsung Smart TVs can connect to PlayStation Now, as promised earlier this year.

This is the first time that PlayStation Now can be used on devices that were not made by Sony. The new support for Samsung Smart TVs does require that the owner also have a DualShock 4 game controller to play games on the service. This will allow those TV owners to play a selection of PlayStation 3 games that are available via a streaming connection to the Internet, rather than downloaded to a hard drive. Some games will require a separate rental fee to play, but Sony also has an option to access over 100 games on the service for a $19.99 a month fee.

PlayStation Now is also available on some of Sony’s 2014 TVs, along with its 2015 Blu-Ray players. Of course, owners of the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PS Vita and PlayStation TV consoles can access the service. PlayStation Now will soon be available on Sony’s 2015 televisions, along with Samsung’s Smart TVs that launched in 2014.
