Sony announced this week that it had shipped 3.3 million units of its PlayStation 4 console worldwide in the July-September time frame and that its games division recorded a profit during that quarter as well.

Sony also shipped 800,000 units of its eight year old PlayStation 3 console during the last quarter. However, there was some bad news as well as the company stated that it shipped just 700,000 units of its various handheld consoles, including the PSP, the PS Vita and the new PlayStation TV set-top box. That’s 100,000 units less compared to the same time period a year ago, when the PlayStation TV was not yet available. Sony began shipments of the PlayStation TV in Japan first and just launched the set-top box in the US in mid-October, with plans to sell it in Europe later in November.

Have you bought a PlayStation 4 and if so what is your opinion of the console?
